Effective Media Communication

guidelines

KEEP IT SIMPLE Never use a complicated word, when a small one will do. BE BRIEF Essential and direct. Shortest distance, two points, straight line. BE SINCERE People love the authentic and dislike the phony. Be yourself. BE CONSISTENT Stay true to the message. BE UNIQUE Re-define. Think in a fresh way. See things from a new perspective. BE INSPIRATIONAL Move forward toward a positive goal. People may forget your words, but they will remember how you made them feel. FEEL THE WORDS Words have emotional impact. Recognize the ones that uplift. Example: gambling vs. gaming; same meaning, different connotation. CREATE AN IMAGE A clear mental image has greater impact then an explanation. The visual ignites the imagination and is easily remembered. ASK A QUESTION Asking a question engages the listener's thoughts, invites participation, and inspires personal involvement. FRAME WHAT IS SAID Everything we think and do has parameters, a frame. Life itself has parameters; birth and death. Every story, every philosophy, every behavior, has a context. This is the most important question to answer, it determines whether you succeed or fail: How is what you are saying framed? The more guidelines that are applied, the more effective your communication.
